About Keeneland
Keeneland is a Thoroughbred racetrack and auction house in Lexington, Kentucky, in the heart of the Bluegrass region. Opened in 1936, it is renowned for its tradition and atmosphere, conducting boutique race meets each spring and fall. The track raced on a synthetic Polytrack surface from 2006 before returning to dirt in 2014, and it also has a turf course dating to 1985. Its signature race is the Grade 1 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, a leading Kentucky Derby prep, and Keeneland has twice hosted the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Operated as a non-profit, it is also the world's largest Thoroughbred auction house, conducting major bloodstock sales throughout the year.
