About Emerald Downs
Emerald Downs is a Thoroughbred racetrack in Auburn, Washington, in the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. It opened in 1996 to succeed the recently closed Longacres, the Pacific Northwest's historic racing home, and inherited that track's signature race. Emerald Downs runs on a one-mile sand-based main track and does not have a turf course. Its premier event is the Longacres Mile, a handicap whose lineage traces back to 1935. The track serves as the primary venue for Thoroughbred racing in the Pacific Northwest, conducting a seasonal meet through the warmer months.
