About Thistledown
Thistledown, situated to the east of Cleveland, Ohio, hosts live Thoroughbred racing spanning from April to mid-November, in addition to simulcast racing from various locations across the world. The track's one-mile oval dirt path serves as the venue for the distinguished Ohio Derby, held annually in June.
Established in 1925, Thistledown Race Track was previously managed by the DeBartolo Corp from 1959-1999. It was subsequently purchased by Magna Entertainment Corp in 1999, and later on by Harrah's Entertainment Inc. for $43 million in 2010.
