About Will Rogers Downs
Will Rogers Downs is a Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racetrack with a casino in Claremore, Oklahoma, near Tulsa. Opened in 1987, it races on a one-mile dirt oval and hosts mixed-breed racing, with a Thoroughbred meet in the spring and Quarter Horse racing later in the year. The track is owned and operated by the Cherokee Nation, which acquired and revived the facility after an earlier closure, reopening it with casino gaming in 2005. Its racing program centers on regional Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse stakes. Casino gaming operates year-round alongside the seasonal live racing.
