About Delta Downs
Delta Downs is a Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racetrack with an attached casino and hotel in Vinton, Louisiana, near the Texas border. Opened in 1973, it races on a compact main oval and does not have a turf course. Its best-known race is the Delta Downs Jackpot, a richly endowed event for two-year-olds run in late autumn that has served as a stepping stone for promising young runners. The venue hosts both Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse meets across the year and is operated by Boyd Gaming. A companion race, the Delta Princess, fills a similar role for two-year-old fillies.
